Gladys Landes

Gladys Mae Landes, age 81, of Joplin, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Joplin Gardens in Joplin. She was born on November 22, 1937 in Galesberg, Mo to the late Rollin and Mary (Cook) Jantz. She was a graduate of Carl Junction High School and a life long resident of the area.

She retired from Elder Manufacturing after 25 years of employment and then was the head cook at Spring River Christian Village for several years. She was a member of the Oronogo Methodist Church and was involved with the United Methodist Women and very active with her church family. She enjoyed spending her time with her family, crocheting, sewing, and baking pies.

Survivors include one son, Dale Landes, of Webb City; two daughters, Robin Garrett, of Alba, and Judy Hinson, and her husband, Jeff, of Carterville; one brother, Norman Jantz; three sisters, Lorena Sweeney, Willadean Wuellner, and Wanda Chaney; seven grandchildren, Josh Garrett, Nicki Landes, Justin Landes, Jenna Eurit, James Landes, Jaren Hinson, and Jace Landes; eight great-grandchildren with one to arrive in June.








In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one great-grandchild, Brentley Eurit; and one sister, Rosemarie Selsor.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 10:00 am at Mason-Woodard Mortuary with burial to follow at the Weaver Cemetery north of Oronogo. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 7th from 6:00pm until 7:00pm at the mortuary. Memorial donations may be made to the Children's Haven of Southwest Missouri and entrusted to the mortuary.
