Larry Vanderpool

Larry Ray Vanderpool, age 73, Joplin, passed away at 4:29 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Freeman West Hospital.

Larry was born November 25, 1945 in Weir, Kansas to the late George Vanderpool, Sr. and Betty Burns Vanderpool.

Larry worked as a meat inspector for the U.S.D.A. from 1966 until he retired in 2005. He was a member of Pittsburg Lodge #187, AF & AM and the Weir Southern Baptist Church. Larry enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was working in his yard, gardening or watching his Spring flowers in bloom. Larry loved the Kansas City Chiefs and enjoyed watching Kansas University basketball.

Larry married Martha Felipe on July 14, 2014 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives at the home.








Additional survivors include his children, Kathi Vanderpool, Arizona, Karen Barraza and husband, Javier, Eureka, Kansas, Paola Uriarte and husband, Juan Carlos Ojeda, Mexico, Juan Francisco Uriarte, Mexico, Juan Omar Uriarte, Mexico; one brother, Terry Vanderpool and wife, Debbie, Frontenac, Kansas; grandchildren, Joshua Gudde and wife, Bailey, Micaela Gudde, Juan Carlos Ojeda Uriarte, Alejandro Ojeda Uriarte, Sophia Paola Ojeda Uriarte; and many other extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his first wife, Rayma Humble Vanderpool; brother, George Vanderpool, Jr.; and a sister, Shirley Mangile.

Services are planned for Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Padre Paco Gordillo will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
