Billy Byrd

Billy Wayne Byrd, age 87, Webb City, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at his home.

Billy was born June 17, 1931 in Webb City, son of the late Frank C. Byrd, Sr. and Lois Geer Byrd. He graduated from Webb City High School, and joined the United States Navy where he served for 21 years before retiring as an E-8, serving in both Korea and Vietnam. He then moved to Austin, Texas where he worked for the Internal Revenue Service several years before moving back to Webb City in 1980 where he worked for the local Navy Recruiting Office.

Billy was an avid bowler, bowling in several leagues throughout the years. He had several 300 games, and several 800 series, he was elected to the Joplin Bowling Hall of Fame. He attended Forest Park Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Judith Norris Byrd, who passed July 1, 2008, a son, Eric Byrd, two brothers and three sisters.







Survivors include his sons, Steve Byrd of Duenweg, Missouri, Kyle Byrd and wife Christina of Canada; six grandchildren, Dustin Byrd and wife Natasha, Lexi Byrd, Jennifer Branch and husband Ryan, Taylor Byrd, Christopher Byrd, and Breann Byrd; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Dr. John Swadley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
