Janie Beatrice Wilkins age 96 of Oronogo, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at the Wildwood Nursing Center in Joplin. She was born on October 8, 1922 in Jasper County to Henry W. Leatherwood and Etta Sally (Carden) Leatherwood.
Janie worked at Elders Manufacturing, Meekers Leather Manufacturing, Henson and Wilkins Roofing Company and was an excellent homemaker for her family. She was a member of the Opolis Bible Church.
Janie married Theodore F. Wilkins on July 3, 1946 in Columbus, Kansas and he preceded her in death on December 16, 1979. She was also preceded in death by a son, Joe Wilkins on April 19, 2012, and a granddaughter, Lindsay Wilkins on May 20, 2007.
Janie is survived by her daughter, Delaine Clark and husband Kenneth of Oronogo; sons, Lee Wilkins and wife Vicky of Oronogo, Tim Wilkins and wife Sharon of Carl Junction, Mike Wilkins and wife Jill of Oronogo, and Pat Wilkins of Jasper; 18 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
The family will be present for a visitation on Friday, April 5, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, at 10:00 AM in the chapel of the funeral home with Mike Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow at Burkhart Cemetery in Racine, Missouri.
