Wayne Williams

Wayne Henry Williams, age 91, Reeds, Missouri, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 4, 2019 at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage.

Wayne was born February 11, 1928 in Avilla, Missouri to the late Vernie Williams and Jestina M. (Henry) Williams. He was a 1945 graduate of Carthage High School. 

Wayne married Helen Louise Ropp on May 14, 1950 in Carthage, Missouri; she preceded him in death on September 12, 2007. Wayne was a veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict. Wayne was a farmer his whole life and was an honorary member of Alpha Gamma Sigma, an agriculture fraternity. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Carthage.








Survivors include one son, Marvin Wayne Williams (wife Deborah), Kansas City, Missouri; one sister, Verna Mae Buchanan, Carthage; six grandchildren, Roxy Williams, Jamie (Williams) Altrup, Stacy (Williams) Gardner, Brandon Williams, Blake Williams and Nicholas Williams; four great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Kenny Farris, Reeds; numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Wesley Lee Williams; and one sister, JoAnn Farris.

Private graveside services will be held. Memorial gifts are suggested to the First Christian Church, Carthage, or Williams Cemetery in care of Knell Mortuary. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
