James R. Foster, age 72, Joplin, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at his home after a lengthy illness.
James was born August 19, 1947 in Couch, Missouri, son of the late John Foster and Norma Dene Harris Foster. He moved to Joplin as a child, and attended Joplin Schools, graduating from Joplin High School in 1965.
He worked for Teledyne in Neosho for many years as an inspector prior to going to work for Building Products, where he retired in 2002.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Spicer who passed in 2014, and a brother, Gary Lee Foster who passed November 6, 1966.
He married Marcia F. Gust on January 4, 1966 in Joplin, she survives. Additional survivors include his son, John Foster of Granby, Missouri; grandchildren, Dylan Spicer (Katie) of Portland, Oregon, and Shawndra Brasier (Joe Armstrong) of Joplin; great-grandchildren, Kaden Brasier, Maekenzee Braiser, and Jackson Braiser.
Memorial service will be Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with David DuRall, II officiating. Inurnment of his ashes will be in Osborne Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
