Carl Stansberry

(From Daniel Funeral Home)

Heaven rejoiced Monday, April 13th when Carl Glenn Stansberry, 99, of St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage MO, entered Heaven's Gates. It’s a much louder place there now! Carl fell just short of reaching his 100th Birthday this summer, being born June 20,1920 to Edmond & Roberta (Hawkins) Stansberry.

Carl left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and friendship. He made the most of life, not dwelling on his losses. He was an overcomer, losing his Mother at age three, his first Wife Pauline (Probert) and infant daughter at birth, then later his Wife Francine (Mayo) of 62 years, and his only sibling Dorothy Purdy.

Carl was primarily a farmer, and a lifelong resident of the Golden City, MO area. In his younger days he had worked at a dynamite plant where he acquired the nickname “Shep”. One of his biggest thrills was to combine on his birthday each year. Carl & Francine were always on the go, enjoying many family and friends events, playing cards, dancing and camping. Carl drove his boat pulling many water skiers behind, went to basketball games, patiently took his wife shopping almost every Saturday and went to many weddings. They were always entertaining or at someone else’s parties and events.

Carl leaves behind four sons and families, Tony (Christine) Stansberry, Shawnee Mission KS. Charles (Holly) Stansberry, St. Charles MO. Lowell (Carolyn) Stansberry, Baldwin KS. Jerry (Sandy) Stansberry, Lamar MO. Nine grandchildren Natasha Lucas, Scott Stansberry, Greg Stansberry, Stephanie Becker, Glen Stansberry, Edmond Stansberry, Stacy Goodchild, Sarah Obermann, Jordan Stansberry, and spouses and 17 Great Grandchildren. A sister and brother in-law Justine & Albert (Jay) McManis, many nieces & nephews, and a loving St. Luke’s family who took excellent care of him these last three years.

A private family graveside service will be held at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Golden City, MO with Pastor David Powell officiating.

A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.

Contributions are suggested and to be made payable to First Christian Church of Golden City in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
