Norma McCoy

Norma Jean McCoy, age 84, Joplin, passed away at 9:58 a.m. Thursday, April 9, 2020, surrounded by her loving family at her home.

Norma was born December 26, 1935 in Joplin to the late Charlie Cecil Burdge and Esther May Bresee Burdge and had lived in the Joplin area most of her life.

A homemaker, Norma had worked for several years in housekeeping at several area nursing homes, as a church secretary and Sunday school teacher. She was a longtime and faithful member of Hornet Pentecostal Church. Norma will be missed by everyone that knew and loved her.

She married Clifford McCoy on January 31, 1954 in Joplin, Missouri. He preceded her in death on October 31, 2012.








In addition to her parents and husband Norma was preceded in death by her siblings, Geneva Smith, Lou Ann Wilson, Emma Hembree, Loretta Bragg, Henry Burdge, Everett Burdge; granddaughter Carrie Vanzant; great granddaughter Macey Bean.

Survivors include her children, Connie Kewer and husband, John, Hornet, Terry McCoy and wife, Teresa, Roundup, Montana, Karen Mosier and husband, Leon, Columbus, Kansas; grandchildren, Stephanie Box, Amber Bean, Aaron McCoy, Jessie Everett, Leah Brenner, Missie Gwerder, Abigal McCoy, Derek Mosier, Nathan McCoy, Don Vanzant; twenty-two great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Private family services are planned for Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Hornet Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Tracy Holden and Chad Everett officiating. Interment will follow at Hornet Cemetery. A memorial service for friends will be planned at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
