Deloris Virginia “Tudy” Brumley age 77, wife, mother, grandmother, published author, and artist, passed away Wednesday, April 15th, 2020 at her home in Powell.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, and brother Robert.
She is survived by her husband Bob Brumley of Powell, MO... and children Elaine Brumley-Johnson and husband Brad Johnson of Rogers, AR, Robert Bartlett Brumley II (Bobby) and wife Jane McLeod Brumley of Ramstein, Germany, and Betsy Brumley Bernier and husband Kevin Bernier of Bella Vista, AR. Grandsons Trey Brumley of Plano, TX, Caleb Brumley of Cibolo, TX, Reagan and Colton of Ramstein, Germany.
Also, she is survived by her brothers Dwayne White and wife Louise, Russell White and wife Cheryl, and sisters, Carmen Schell and husband Lonnie, Merlin White, and Debbie Major and husband Marvin.
In addition, she leaves behind many loving extended family members and friends who loved her and will miss her kindness and the loving and generous nature that touched so many people throughout her life.
Tudy was born May 22, 1942 in Guymon, OK to Rusty and Doris Stebens White. Her family soon moved to Lancaster, CA, then to Stella MO, where she grew up on a farm. She graduated in 1960 from Stella High School and soon met the love of her life, Bob Brumley. They began dating in June 1960 and married after 3 months on September 18th.
Tudy spent her time writing Christian romance novels, making pickles and jelly to sell with her mother at the Hill and Hollow Folk Festival, and painting. Tudy had her first book published in 1989, going on to publish 2 more.
Tudy had a green thumb. Each year she would turn her deck into a flower garden, filling dozens of flowerpots with all varieties of flowers. She loved working in her deck garden. She talked to her flowers every day. The birds would flock to see her handy work. She named each and every bird, and even towards the end, they would come to visit.
Tudy was a fixture in the Powell community. Every neighbor was a friend. Some of her favorite times were spent at the festival grounds by the family office where the community gathers for 4th of July Bean Feeds, and the farmers market to raise funds to save the old steel bridge in Powell.
We will miss her every day.
Funeral services for Mrs. Brumley will be held graveside on Friday, May 8, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Fox Cemetery in Powell, Missouri with Pastors J.R. and Tommy Burr officiating.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home. On-line condolences may be sent to the family through our website, www.ozarkfuneralhome.com.
