David McCall

David Lee McCall, 88, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at Joplin Health and Rehabilitation Center after years of declining health.

David was born January 23, 1932, in Joplin, Missouri, one of three children born to the union of the late John and Mabel (Johnson) McCall. 

Following high school, David joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. His Army and Army Reserves career lasted over 20 years and he received the rank of CPL before his retirement. David worked for May’s Drug Warehouse in Joplin for over 40 years and last managed their Liquor Department. 








In his free time, David loved to hunt and fish. He also loved to read and he always had a book in his hand – even while watching television. David was a wonderful uncle to his nieces and nephews and enjoyed taking them for Sunday drives. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

David is survived by his brother, Warren McCall, of Joplin; his sister, Violet Dickson, of Joplin; his nieces and nephews, Randy Spencer, Debra Garrett, David McCall, Michelle Thompson and Alex Parker; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

David’s ashes will be laid to rest at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin with memorial services held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
