Orvilyn Lacey

Orvilyn Sue Lacey, age 77, of Wheaton, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Barry County Health and Rehabilitation in Cassville, Missouri.

She was born March 17, 1943 in Purdy, Missouri the daughter of Herman and Georgia (Morlan) Riddle. On June 12, 1964 she was united in marriage to Stephen Wayne Lacey, who preceded her in death on August 2, 2010. Also preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, William Douglas in infancy.

Surviving are one son, Mike Lacey and his wife Holly of Exeter, Missouri; one sister, Pat Nimmo of Joplin, Missouri; one brother, Donnie DeCocq and his wife Frankie of Ozark, Missouri; one granddaughter, Rachel Lacey of Exeter, Missouri and two nephews, Jimmy Nimmo and his wife Jauna of Kansas City, Missouri and Andy Nimmo and his wife Lori of Joplin, Missouri. 








Sue was converted at the age of 10 at Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Wheaton High School and went on to receive her Master’s Degree from Southwest Missouri State University. As a young woman, she obtained her pilot’s license and loved to fly. For many years she taught school in Wheaton and later was a counselor in both Wheaton and Cassville Schools. For several years she attended Wheaton United Methodist Church and later became a member of Wheaton Southern Baptist Church. She loved education and teaching kids.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 3, 2020 at Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter under direction of McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton. Pastor Paul Wahlert will conduct the services.

Contributions may be made to Wheaton Backpack Program in memory of Sue.
