William Dodd

William Edward Dodd, age 90, Buffalo, Missouri, formerly of Joplin, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2020 at his home with his wife at his side.

William was born November 8, 1929 in Joplin, son of the late Ola and Lola Dodd. He grew up in Joplin, attended Joplin Schools, and worked for the Joplin Fire Department from 1951 through 1971 before retiring. 

He then was owner and operator of Southwest Oil Company, he eventually sold to Deffenbaugh Oil, but continued to work for twenty years total, retiring in 1991. He then went to work for SMB Bank in Joplin in 1997, and worked until 2006. He moved to Buffalo in 2019. He was a member of Carl Junction Assembly of God. 








In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two sons, George W. Dodd, and Jimmy Edward Dodd; son-in-law, Tom Gilbreath; three brothers, Wayne Dodd, Charles Dodd, and Robert Dodd.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Dodd of the home; two daughters, Billye Davis (Roland) of Mayview, Missouri, and Barbara Gilbreath of Carthage, Missouri; son, Robert "Bobby" Dodd (Janice); 10 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Thursday, July 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Jeremy Workman officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until service time.

Interment will follow in Forest Park Cemetery, Joplin, Missouri.
