Mattie Belle Boyd, age 82, entered into our Heavenly Father’s Kingdom July 31, 2020, following a short illness.
Mattie was born July 17, 1938, in Camdenton, Missouri, to Benjamin F. and Nola M. Garber. She was a longtime Joplin resident and a 32 year employee of St. John’s Hospital. She was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
Mattie is survived by her children, Marsha (Doc) Farmer, Lisa Romero, Sherri Lopreste (Tony), Karen Pillai (Ashok) and Richard Boyd (Patty); six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Valerie Box.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Pamela Boyd; brothers, Floyd and Elmer Garber; and sisters, Ruby Warren and Sue Long.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church followed by a Prayer Service at 10:00 a.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
What a joy Mattie was to work with at St. John's. A lovely woman.
