(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)James Robert “Bob” Gideon joined his Savior in Heaven on October 7, 2024, at the age of 75.
Bob was born on April 20, 1949 in Carthage, Missouri. He was the son of Arval and Helen Gideon of Joplin.
Bob graduated from Joplin Senior High School in 1967 and from MSSC in 1976. He served in the U.S. Army from 1967-1970. He was a member of the 1st Logistical Command in Can Tho, Vietnam from 1968-1969.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Larry Gideon. Bob married Shirley Holm in 1987. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, watching the Chiefs play football, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Gideon; his sister, Becky Palmer; a daughter, Beth Collins and her husband, Terry Collins; 2 grandsons, Kyle Heath and Aaron Collins and his wife, Alyssa Collins; granddaughter, Emily Collins; great-granddaughter Kiyah Heath; niece, Rachel Durland and her husband, Chris Durland; a great-niece and great-nephew; and his cousins.
Services will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Carterville Cemetery in Carterville, Missouri.
