(From Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home)Charlotte Marie Tuten, age 71, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 6:52 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at her home. She was born June 27, 1953, in Altamont, Kansas, the daughter of Jack and Bertha (Byrd) Thomas.
Charlotte attended high school in Altamont, Kansas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church in Action, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.
On November 25, 1969, she married Phillip William Tuten, Sr., in Lamar, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2024.
Charlotte is survived by her three sons, Phillip Tuten, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Shell Knob, Missouri, Christopher Tuten and his wife, Keri, of Joplin, Missouri and David Tuten and his wife, Ashley, of Willard, Missouri; one brother, Bobby Thomas and his wife, Jennifer, of Fort Smith, Arkansas; one brother-in-law, Paul Tuten of Wichita, Kansas; 18 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Jack, and Bertha; her husband Phillip; four sisters, Betty Hopkins, Bea Hedrick, Ola Crawford, and Bertha (May) Kitter; five brothers, James, Willie, Fredrick, Jack, and Leon Thomas and one brother-in-law, Patrick Tuten.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Church in Action, Mt. Vernon Missouri. A private family burial will be held at the Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora, Missouri, at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora.
