(From Midland Cremation Society)Denise Hooker Smith, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, entered into this life on May 22,1961 and passed away peacefully on February 7th, 2025 at age 63 at the Communities of Wildwood Ranch in Joplin, MO after being diagnosed with a terminal illness in September, 2024.
Denise truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures such as spending time with family and friends, traveling, attending theatre performances and enjoying walks through various botanical gardens.
Denise was always a hard worker and would be the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need with an uncanny ability to serve her neighbors in a positive way.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Medlock and husband Brandon Medlock; their children, Piper Barnes, and Maddux Medlock, Brian Barnes and wife Alyssa and their two children Cali and Dakota. Also, daughter Cynthia Thomas and husband Chris Thomas and their children Grace, Isaiah, Judith, and Charli Thomas. Her brother Richard Smith and his significant other, Donna, of Sullivan, MO and sisters Joetta Kreck and wife, Jen of Virginia and Donna Smith of Washington and also many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Denise is preceded in death by her mother Joyce, stepfather Ralph, her father Roger and her brother Kenny. Per her wishes there will be no formal services held.
