(From Knell Mortuary)Stanley William McBride, known affectionately as Stan, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025, in Joplin, Missouri, at the age of 72. Born on March 25, 1952, in Carthage, Missouri, the son of the late William R. McBride and Velma Marie (Cook) McBride.
Stan was a proud graduate of Carthage High School in 1970. His thirst for adventure and his unwavering courage led him to serve his country with distinction in Special Forces, and as a paratrooper and path finder with the United States Army. He then furthered his education at Missouri Southern State College.
Stan became a police officer for the Webb City Police Department, a mounted sheriff, and security guard for MSSC. Stan's dedication to service and his country was mirrored in his civilian life. He then became a furrier and counselor for the Vision Quest Wagon Train, where he found his love for horses and traveling the country. Finally, he worked as a truck driver for many years, and met and married the love of his life, Rosellen McBride; she preceded him in death. Stan then did some work in private security after his retirement. Stan's love for the outdoors was unparalleled. He found solace and joy in riding horses and was equally passionate about exploring the open road on his motorcycle. His adventurous spirit and handy nature were hallmarks of a life lived to its fullest.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and bravery, survived by his children, Tanya Scott and Matt McBride; grandchildren, Chase McBride and Kimber Scott; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Chester McBride (Wanda) of Golden, Missouri, and John McBride (Tina) of Carthage, Missouri; a sister, Luetta Sanders of Diamond, Missouri; and several cherished nieces and nephews.

Per Stan’s wishes, there was cremation. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com. Services will be held at a later date and will be announced by the Knell Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to First Baptist Church, Carthage in care of Knell Mortuary.
