Fred Terry

(From Ozark Memorial Park Crematory)

Frederick Michael Terry, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully April 27 at the age of 80 at his home in Joplin, MO., leaving behind a legacy of passion, dedication, and love.

Born on August 13, 1944, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Fred and Elsie Terry, Fred’s journey was marked by a deep appreciation for life’s adventures and a lifelong commitment to family and work.

Fred was a man who lived life at full throttle. He had a profound love for motorcycles and fast cars, often finding joy on the open road with the wind at his back. His heart also belonged to the quiet solace of nature, especially when a fishing pole was in hand and the water was calm around him. He was also an avid golfer and at one time got to play the TPC Sawgrass course in Florida, a bucket list item for him for sure.

Professionally, Fred was a key figure in the Photographic Equipment industry for over five decades. His career began in the 1960s with Sears, and he became a respected leader and mentor in the field. His expertise and entrepreneurial spirit led him to own and operate Lawrence Photo & Video in Springfield, MO. There, he made a lasting mark before retiring just a few years ago. Through his work, he helped countless people capture life’s most treasured moments.

Fred’s true pride and joy, however, was his family. He is survived by his loving wife Kathy and her two children Bob Siwinski of Harrisonville NH, and Beth & Chuck Haake of Baxter Springs KS, Also Fred's three children from a prior marriage to Marsha his high school sweetheart who passed in 1995: Kevin & Robin Terry of Wichita KS, Sean & Brenda Terry and their two children Tiffany Willour of Independence MO, and Brandon Terry of Blue Springs MO, and Megan & Michael Howard and their three children Austin, Kaitlyn, and Own Howard of Warsaw MO.

Fred was known not only for his sharp mind and generous spirit, but for the deep and unwavering love he had for those closest to him. To know Fred was to feel seen, heard, and supported.

Fred has battled with COPD for the last 20 years and defied the odds. If it were not for the grace and loving care that was given to him by his amazing wife Kathy. Fred would not have survived this long. They both loved one another dearly and shared their love of motorcycles and road tripping with great friends and family! They ran the family business, Lawrence Photo & Video in Springfield MO together until they retired a few years ago and spent the rest of Fred’s days together living, laughing, and loving one another. Soulmates, to say the least.

He was a force of nature, a storyteller, a trailblazer, and above all, a man who was truly beloved. His memory will live on in every road well-traveled, every photograph cherished, and every heart he touched.

A celebration of Fred’s remarkable life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park Crematory, Joplin, MO.
