(From Carson-Wall Funeral Home)Robert “Bob” Harvey Baldwin, 87, longtime Parsons resident, died at 8:45 A.M., Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
He was born January 29, 1938 at McCune, a son of Harvey Laverne and Inez Lorene (Shaffer) Baldwin. He was raised in McCune and Girard and attended school at McCune, graduating from the McCune High School in 1956. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1961 retiring in 1994 as a Master Seargent. During his service he attended the Labette Community College and received an Associate’s Degree. Throughout his military career, he was stationed at El Paso and was deployed to Saudi Arabia during Desert Shield and Desert Storm in the early 1990s. He also worked at Ruskin's Manufacturing from 1975 until his retirement in 2000.
On August 16, 1958 he was united in marriage to Donna Jean Shields at Parsons. She preceded him in death on March 17, 1999.
He was a member of the First Christian Church. He was also a life member of the Brown-Bishop Post 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also belonged to E.L.K.S. Lodge No. 527 of Parsons. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting and playing softball in younger years.
Survivors include: Two daughters – Melanie D. Dixon, Kansas City, KS, Michele D. Ramirez, and her companion, Daniel Dorris, Pittsburg, KS; one son – Monte D. Baldwin, and his wife, Luann, Parsons, KS; eight grandchildren - Kyleigh Dixon, Merriam, KS, Jaran Dixon, and his wife, Mallory, Parsons, KS, Ashleigh Dixon, and her husband, Ross, New York, NY, Justin Ramirez, Pittsburg, KS, Dylan Ramirez, Joplin, MO, Brett Baldwin, Parsons, KS, Megan Baldwin, Pittsburg, KS, Kinsey Baldwin, Parsons, KS; four great-grandchildren, with one on the way; three brothers – Pastor Ralph Baldwin, Weatherford, TX, Gary Baldwin, Chanute, KS, Randy Baldwin, Burlington, KS, three sisters – Jean Hall, Ulysses, KS, Coralie Bennett, Girard, KS, Cheryl Bennett, Girard, KS.
He was preceded in death by three brothers – Lynn Baldwin, Allen Baldwin and Leon Baldwin; four sisters – Irene Heaven, Marjorie Feeman, Leona Kay Ashley and Lois Bevins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 5, 2025 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home with Pastor Ralph Baldwin officiating. Military Honors will be given by the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
