Everett Steelman

(From Meadors Funeral Home)

Everett James Steelman, 78, of Republic, Missouri, gained his heavenly wings on June 3

2025. He was born on November 9, 1946, in Glendale, Arizona to James and Irene Steelman. He was the youngest of seven children.

Everett’s early years were spent in Arizona, and at the age of four they moved to California. There he was raised with a strong work ethic and a love for family.

In 1965 he graduated from Chino High School (CA) and one year later, in 1966, he enlisted in the United States Army. Everett, a Vietnam War Veteran, trained at Fort Ord (CA) and was stationed in Germany for two years before his tour in Vietnam. There he was attached to the 168th Engineer Battalion A Company in Zion South Vietnam. He was very honored and proud to serve our Country.

After returning home from his tour of duty, he married the love of his life, Nora Swing.

He went on to become a Correctional Officer for the State of California Penial System. In 1979, Everett retired from California and moved Nora and the family to Missouri. As their life and family grew, Everett worked as a Maintenance Technician for Tyson Foods. After 22 faithful years of service, he retired in 2009.

Everett loved fishing with his oldest son Tim or his best friend of 40+ years, Dennis. He also enjoyed hunting, camping, cooking, and building different “projects” – especially out of wood. The ultimate fix-it-upper, there wasn’t a project that Everett and the boys couldn’t fix. And although he loved wearing his flannel shirts and hooking a monster-sized bass, his true love was being a loving Husband, devoted Father, and proud Papa – all roles that he embraced proudly.

Everett and Nora spent 56 wonderful years building a beautiful life together filled with 3 children, 8 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. His love for Nora and the family was unmatched.

Everett is survived by his wife Nora of Republic, Missouri; His 3 children – son Tim Steelman (Wife Cheryl Steelman) of Anderson, Missouri; Daughter Tamara Beck (Husband Tim Beck) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and son Troy Steelman (Wife Judy Steelman) of Billings, Missouri. 7 grandchildren: Tenaya Wilson, Nathan Blades, Kaitlyn Steelman, Jordan Beck (Wife Alaytra), McKayla Steelman, Hayden Steelman (Wife Kaylee), Haylie Beck, and Ashlyn Steelman. 9 great grandchildren: Dabius, River, Ridley, Baby Everett, Lyra, Damion, Ari, Lucion, and Rose.
