Melvin Bowman

Melvin Ray Bowman, II, age 54 of Joplin, Missouri, passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. Melvin was born on November 30, 1970 in Joplin to Melvin R. Bowman, Sr. and Phyllis (Larson) Carroll.

Melvin graduated from Joplin Senior High with the class of 1989 and nearly immediately joined the United State Marine Corp. where he dedicated the next 16 years of his life. He was a proud veteran and fiercely loved his country. After returning to school to get a degree in Accounting, Melvin started working in the trucking industry that became his true passion. He was currently working as the Financial Officer for AH Trucking in Purdy, Missouri.







During his free time, Melvin loved being outdoors. He was often found on the shooting range as a NRA certified instructor, playing a round of golf or taking adventures in his jeep. As his boys were growing up, he was right beside them as one of their Boy Scout leaders, extremely proud to see both of his sons become Eagle Scouts.

Melvin was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Carroll and step-father, Guy Carroll.

Those left to mourn his passing include his father, Melvin Bowman, Sr. of Oklahoma City, OK; sons, Melvin R. Bowman, III (Hailey) of Carthage and Michael Bowman of Joplin; mother of his children, Tina Bowman of Joplin; sisters, Debra Davison of Oklahoma City, Sharon Snow (Mark) of Springfield, MO and Marsha Shelton (Terry), also of Springfield; half-brother, Matthew Bowman of Oklahoma City; numerous nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews as well as many extended family and friends.







Services for Melvin will be Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parker Mortuary Chapel, burial to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, north of Joplin. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 10th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. also at the mortuary.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
