Rebecca W. Smith, age 73, of Joplin passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at her home.

Rebecca was born on March 10, 1952 in La Jara, CO. She married Stephen “Mike” Smith on April 10, 1993 in Joplin, MO. Together they enjoyed being in the outdoors, fishing by the riverside. They were blessed with 32 years of marriage before her passing. She had a passion for gardening, cooking and sewing in her spare time. She leaves behind 3 fur babies.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Lara; brother, Albert Lara; and step-mother, Constant Salazar.

Rebecca is survived by her husband, Stephen Smith; sister, Rose Soto; two nieces, Janelle Lara and Jacqueline Soto and a nephew Jacob Soto.

Private burial of ashes will be held at the family plot in Colorado at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are under the special care of Parker Mortuary.
