(From Nichols Funeral Home)Alan L. Bruns, 71, of Grove, OK, passed away on September 7, 2025. Born on June 6, 1954, in Quincy, IL, Alan spent his youth at Camp Point Central High School before embarking on a career that saw him rise to the position of General Manager at Freightliner Trucking Company in Joplin and Neosho, MO.
Alan was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and a member of Grove’s First Baptist Church. His personality was a vibrant mix of ornery charm and ceaseless energy. Despite his battle with ALS, Alan remained motivated and constantly on the move, embodying a spirit of fun and a profound love for his family.
An avid outdoorsman, Alan cherished his time woodworking, riding ATVs, and traveling in his RV. His love for the mountains was only paralleled by his enjoyment of homemade ice cream and the pies made by his sister-in-law, Carol, whom he jokingly called his second wife. Alan's legacy is marked not only by his professional achievements and community involvement but also by the love and laughter he brought to all who knew him.
Alan is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Evelyn (Hoskins) Bruns, brother, Dennis “Butch” Bruns and wife, Terry Bruns.
Left to cherish his memory, wife, Sheryl Bruns; sister, Juanita Drawe (Doug) of Marble Falls, Tx, daughters, Cynthia Knoblock (Brad) of San Antonio, Tx, Angela Klinner (Ryan) of Quincy, Ill, Tammy Battaglia (Kyle) Ft Myers, Fl, Tiffni Champman (Brian) of Girard, Ks and son, Shane Williams (Kristen) of Oronogo, Mo; previous step children, Jason Cook and Missy Cook; sister in law, Linda Taber of Quincy, Ill, 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 10am Thursday, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11am Thursday, September 11, 2025, both at Grove’s First Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be held at Greenmont Cemetery in Quincy, Il. at a later date.
Donations in Alan’s memory may be made to First Baptist Church Youth Department.
