Carroll Hargrove

Carroll Sims Hargrove, 79, of Joplin, Missouri passed away suddenly on September 6, 2025. Born on May 10, 1946, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Carroll was the beloved son of the late Fred and Bessie Hargrove. He attended Poplar Bluff High School and Harding University.

He is survived by the love of his life, Jane Hargrove, with whom he shared 45 years full of memories and laughter. He is also survived by their two daughters, Katie Hargrove and Molly Livesay, and son-in-law Sam Livesay. They were a constant source of pride and Carroll’s best friends in their adulthood.








Carroll dedicated more than 30 years of his life to the Little Rock Zoo, where he worked his way up from zookeeper to General Curator. His passion and commitment to the care of the animals and employees in his charge will be remembered by all who were blessed to know him.

Carroll loved observing wildlife and taking family vacations to destinations across the country. He was a gifted woodworker and shared this talent through many crafts and construction projects. He will be remembered for his generous and compassionate soul, broad smile, and love for those around him—especially his cats.

A memorial service will be held in Carroll’s honor at Connect Christian Church in Carl Junction, Missouri on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 2:00pm.
