Gertrude Bishop

Gertrude Marie Bishop, of Golden City, Missouri, passed away on September 24, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, just six days before her 68th birthday.

Gertrude was born on September 30, 1957, in Lamar, Missouri, one of five children born to Carl and Mary (Salow) Chappell. She was raised with a strong sense of family, faith, and simple joys that she carried with her throughout her life.







On June 20, 1992, she married John Lee Bishop in Golden City, Missouri. Together, they shared thirty-three years of devoted marriage, building a life rooted in love, partnership, and mutual respect.

Gertrude attended First Baptist Church of Golden City, where her faith remained a cornerstone of her life. She enjoyed the quiet and creative hobbies of cross-stitching, crocheting, and reading. She especially loved to bake, her homemade rolls were a favorite among family and friends, always made with care and offered with love.








Gertrude will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her warmth, and the way she made others feel at home in her presence. Her legacy is one of love, patience, and the comfort of a life well-lived.

Gertrude is survived by her children: Cheyenne Lee (Bobby) Giger of Diamond, Missouri, and Joy Bishop of Golden City, Missouri. She is also survived by Kenneth Chappel of Golden City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, and three siblings.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

    My prayers go out to Trudy’s family. Our families grew up together and I remember the siblings from Unity school. God Bless
