Barbara J. Studyvin, 83, passed away October 14, 2016 at St. Luke’s Nursing Center in Carthage, Missouri. Barbara was born November 7, 1932 to Johnny G. and Navah “Paschal” Joines. She was married to Thomas Studyvin on October 26, 1957 in Bentonville, Arkansas. He survives.
Barbara was a lifetime Carthage resident and previously worked as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell and for State Farm Insurance. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carthage.
Barbara is survived by one son, Doug Studyvin of Carthage, two grandsons Dr. Erick Studyvin and wife Cavanaugh of Manhattan, New York and Chadwick Studyvin of Carthage. Also, one honorary grandson Taye Witherspoon of Carthage, numerous nieces, nephews and good friend Frankie Pyle of Webb City.
Three brothers preceded her in death: Nelson Joines, Joe Joines and Billy Joines.
Barbara loved her coffee, cigarettes, her dog "Stormy" and her cat "Bobcat".
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 20th, 10:00 am at Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 19th, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Burial will be at Park Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church in care of Ulmer Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
