Eddie Bert Potts, age 73, of Joplin, passed away on Friday March 24, 2017, at his home, following an illness.
Eddie was born on August 17, 1943 in Marshall, Ar., the son of the late Bert and Willie (Robertson) Potts. He has spent most of his life in the Joplin area. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Asbell Excavating & Trucking. Prior to that he worked twenty years for Sperry Vickers. He enjoyed Modified Dirt Racing and had most recently helped daughter/granddaughter, Michaela race Micro Sprints in Tulsa, Ok.
He married Brenda Cook on April 3, 1979 in Miami, Ok., and she survives. Additional survivors include, one son, Jimmy Jewsbury and wife Dee, Joplin; four daughters, Kimi Potts Stegall, Houston, Tx., Chelia Potts Laurance and fiancé Bill Ward, Carl Jct., Mo., Jayma Jewsbury, Joplin, and Michaela Jewsbury, Joplin; five grandchildren, Natosha Berg and husband Aaron, Hayden Laurance, Holden Laurance, and Levi Jewsbury; four great-grandsons; two sisters, Judy Johnson and husband Bob, Joplin, and Joan Uto, Joplin. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Shawna Potts Chapman on August 1,2013.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Reverend Rex Robertson will officiate. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Donnie Crawford Foundation in care of the mortuary.
