Clayton Smith, 60, passed in Willmar, Minnesota July 21, 2017 after a work accident. Clayton was born July 31, 1956 in Bartlesville, OK. He has been a resident of the Carthage area for the past 12 years and moved from the Carl Junction area. Clayton owned and operated Smith Masonry and did construction work as well; he was currently employed with Southpaw U.S.A. Inc..
Clayton was united in marriage to Julie Cupp May 15, 1999 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas; she survives.
Clayton is survived by one daughter Kristie Smith of Rogers, AR, two step daughters Amanda Allen (Kyle) of Webb City and Jessica Irwin (Geratt) of Carl Junction, two step sons Matt Hoffman of Texas and Christopher Hill of Webb City, nine grandchildren: Avery Allen, Khloe Allen, Lena Smith, Charlee Heinz, Grady Irwin, Emma Hoffman, Brylee Hill, Layla Hoffman and one on the way, dear friend Kris Heinz of Carthage, two brothers Mike Smith and Craig Smith, three step-brothers Tony Schowalter, Jason Callahan and Marcus Callahan, one uncle Don Smith, and his step-mom Joyce Smith of Dewey, OK.
Clayton is preceded in death by his dad C.R. Smith and mom Nancy (Pyle) George.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at the I.O.O.F Cemetery in Neosho, MO.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
