Marjorie Ann Cooper, age 94, formerly of Joplin, passed away at 2:23 a.m. Friday, August 4, 2017 at her home in Lee's Summit, Missouri.
Marjorie was born April 28, 1923 in Omaha, Nebraska to the late Hans George Ehlers and Marie Harder Ehlers.
She worked as an elementary school teacher at Emerson Elementary in Joplin, from 1969 to 1986 and previously taught in Nebraska and Virginia.
Marjorie was a member of Sigma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, AARP, and the Joplin Genealogical Society. Marjorie was actively involved with Freeman Auxiliary, and was a 50 year member of Peace Lutheran Church of Joplin. At the time of her death, Marjorie was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church of Blue Springs, Missouri.
She married Harold 'Mac' Cooper on September 27, 1945 in Elkhorn, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on November 27, 1997.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold and Harvey Ehlers; two sisters, Dorothy Jansen and Mildred Ehlers.
Survivors include a son, Curtis Cooper, wife Lillian, Lee's Summit; a daughter, Janet Cooper, also of Lee's Summit; a brother, Eldon Ehlers, wife, Lorraine, Bristow, Virginia, and one sister, Marilyn Pillar, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Private graveside services are planned at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
A luncheon for family and friends will be at Peace Lutheran Church at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 21,2017
The family will receive friends Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 2-4:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Peace Lutheran Church, Joplin, or All Saints Lutheran Church, Blue Springs, Missouri and may be left in care of the mortuary
