Andy Leroy Slimp, age 66 of Joplin, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Freeman Hospital, Joplin.
Andy was born on October 31, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas to the late Marvin Slimp and Evelyn Baker Slimp. He attended Joplin schools prior to joining the United States Army. Andy worked for his family as an auto mechanic and for a few years, he was a truck driver.
Andy is survived by his wife, Carol Bitzel Slimp, whom he married on June 8, 1991 in Joplin.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Christina Slimp of Chicago, Illinois; step son, Bryan Webb-Roberts and husband, Garold of Neosho; step daughter, Tina Webb of Neosho; brother, Chuck Slimp and wife, Deanne of Springfield, Missouri; sisters, Shirley Camp of Wilmington, Ohio, Sarrah McKeehan of Joplin, Carol Stanley of Galena, Kansas, Mary Harden of Neosho; 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.
Other than his parents, Andy is preceded in death by a son, Edward Marvin Slimp; a grandchild and three great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary. He will be taken for cremation following the service.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
He was a good and kind man. And the Earth will be lesser with him not on it. Go with God, my Waterbrother.
