John E. Kelly, of Frisco, Texas, age 88, formerly of Joplin, Mo. passed away at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Beehive Assisted Living facility in Frisco, Texas.
John was born July 8, 1929 in Commerce, Ok. the son of the late William and Frankie (Osborne) Kelly and had lived in the Joplin area most of his life. He was employed with F.A.G. Bearing Co. for 25 years, retiring in 1995. John served his country from 1951-1953 in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He attended Calvary Baptist Church. John enjoyed fishing, house remodeling and painting and was an avid woodworker.
John married Mattie Beard January 14, 1951 in Columbus, Ks., and she preceded him in death on February 4, 2013. Survivors include two daughters, Janice Dockum and her husband Jim of Goose Creek, S.C., Patricia Shelton of Avondale, Az., 4 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, 3 step grandchildren, 11 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 8 sisters and 2 brothers.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday November 30, 2017 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel, Burial will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Mortuary from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday.
The family has asked that contributions be given to the American Heart Association in care of the Mortuary
