Mrs. Barbara Jean Chamberlain, 77, of Noel, Missouri, departed this life on Thursday morning, January 25, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, after a recent decline in health.
Barbara entered this life on January 22, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri, one of three children born to the late Jack and Barbara Ann “Bobbie” (Timpkin) Pew. After graduating high school in Kansas City, Missouri, she moved with her family to Noel, in 1959. She furthered her education at the University of Arkansas, receiving her bachelor’s degree in business. On June 18, 1965, she was united in marriage to William Dorman “Bill” Chamberlain and to this union two sons were born. Barbara worked in the petroleum industry for several years and was president of Jack Pew Oil Company, retiring in 2008. Barbara enjoyed reading and was a frequent patron of the McDonald County Library.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of nearly fifty-one years, Bill, on May 27, 2016; and one sister, Judith Pew.
Barbara is survived by her two sons, Robert Chamberlain and Kathy Martin of Joplin, Missouri and Bill Chamberlain and wife, Dianna, of Noel, Missouri; five grandchildren, Teal Chamberlain, Taylor Chamberlain, Minden Chamberlain, Aidan Chamberlain and Quinci Chamberlain; three great grandchildren; a brother, Ross Pew of Grove, Oklahoma; as well as a host of other family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday morning, January 29, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. in the Noel Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Noel Cemetery with Pastor Marilyn O’Brien officiating. On-line condolences may be sent to the family through our website www.ozarkfuneralhome.com.
