Barbara Bearskin

Barbara D. Bearskin of Fairland, OK passed from this life Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Higher Call Nursing Center in Quapaw, OK. She was 88.

Barbara was born April 30, 1932 in San Diego, CA to John M. and Dorothy (Deibert) Cannon. She had lived in the Fairland area for 35 years moving from California. She graduated from high school in Corona, CA and graduated from Riverside Jr. College and attended San Diego State. 

Barbara worked for the Bell System for 30 years retiring in 1983 in Joplin, MO. She was active in Extension Homemakers and was on the Governor’s Task Force for Library Reform. She also worked for the task force for flood control for Ottawa County and volunteered in pre-school and kindergarten in Wyandotte for the reading program.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Chief Leaford Bearskin , November 9, 2012 and her parents.

Survivors include her stepson Ron Bearskin and his wife Judith of Fairland, OK, her step -daughter Nancy Murphy and her husband Brian of Escondido, Ca, 9 step grandchildren and 10 step great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK. Ron Bearskin will officiate. Interment will be in California. Viewing for Mrs. Bearskin will be Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday 8 to 5 p.m. at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home.
