Steve Heeter

Steven "Steve" Vincent Heeter, age 67, of Joplin, MO passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021 at his home in Joplin, MO. Steve was born in Monett, MO on Thursday, August 13, 1953; the son of Charles and Teresa (Nolan) Heeter. 

Steve attended St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from Pierce City High School in 1971. Steve played in the Pierce City band during high school. He immediately joined the Army National Guard. 

Steve was married to Lori Loyd on Saturday, December 9, 2000 in Joplin, MO. 








He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. He was a cab driver many years, worked as a paramedic and worked in telemetry at Mercy. Steve enjoyed cooking and entertaining. He loved visiting with others. Steve spent many hours with family and enjoyed watching his grandsons grow up. Steve was a legend in his own mind. He enjoyed life and loved his family. Steve never met a stranger. He told jokes and brought candy to co-workers at Mercy. To know him was to love him!

Steve is survived by the following: his wife, Lori of the home; two daughters, Erica Martin of Granby, MO and Nicole Watson of Joplin, MO; his mother, Teresa Heeter of Pierce City, MO; three brothers, Mike Velten of Neosho, MO, Charles Heeter of Bella Vista, AR, and Tom Heeter of Neosho, MO; five sisters, Teri England of Pierce City, MO, Janine King of Pierce City, MO, Mari Heeter of Joplin, MO, Carrie Sanders of Monett, MO, and Amy Barnes of Joplin, MO; four grandchildren; and many other nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Charles Heeter in 2004 and a son, Chad Heeter in 1995.

Memorial Mass will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pierce City, MO on Thursday, April 15, 2021 beginning at 10:00 AM with Father Paul Pudhota officiating. Steve was cremated at his request. Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
