Betty White

Betty Jane (Howell) White, age 89 of Joplin, Missouri passed away on August 15, 2021.

Betty was born on September 7, 1931 in Joplin, to Preston Ray Howell and Margie Inez (Wasson) Howell. She was a 1949 graduate of Joplin High School.

Betty was married to the love of her life, Gene E. White on September 19, 1949. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1986. 








Together they built a wonderful life and a loving family. They had six children: Preston White and wife Debbie, Bob White and wife Carla, Kevin White and wife Tina, Margie Myers and husband Brad, Jodi Russell and husband David, Kerri Gayle Beier and husband Jason. She enjoyed her 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She also had one grandchild who passed away shortly after birth.

She was “Grandma Betty” to the many children she babysat. She also enjoyed working at Pacific Mercury, her first job, Man Power, as well as bringing entertainment to the Joplin area. She donated her personal collection to begin the radio station, WMBH.

She was a member of Christ’s Community United Methodist Church. The children of Betty White would like to express their gratitude to Seneca House for their loving care of their mother.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Friday, August 20th, at the Mason-Woodard Chapel at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends during the visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2021. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Solace House of the Ozarks, in care of the mortuary.
