Bonita Downing

Bonita Jane Downing, 50, of Neosho, Missouri, departed this life on Friday, January 21, 2022, at Landmark Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, after a brief illness.

Bonita entered this life February 19, 1971, in Ottawa, Kansas, born to the union of John and Jeanie (Hamilton) McDaniel. She was raised in Bentonville, Arkansas and was a 1989, graduate of Gravette High School. 








She furthered her education by attending Crowder College in Neosho. For twenty-one years, she was employed by WalMart Home Office in logistics. After moving from Bentonville, she resided in Nevada and El Dorado Springs, Missouri and Saucier, Mississippi. She returned to the area in the summer of 2021, to reside in Neosho. She was currently employed by Mercy Hospital in financial administration. She enjoyed fishing, playing softball and spending countless hours with her three grandchildren. Bonita attended Lanagan First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father; a brother, Michael Thomas; brother in-law, Kevin Sherman; maternal grandparents, Gene and Thelma Hamilton; and paternal grandparents, John McDaniel and Alta McCain.

Bonita is survived by her two children, Ashton Davis and fiancé, Rene Perkins, of Rolla, Missouri and Megan Downing of Bolivar, Missouri; three grandchildren, Kenlie, Tatum and Avery Davis; her mother Jeanie Stidham and husband, Ray, of Neosho; two siblings, Crystal Sherman of Anderson and Russell Thomas and wife, Melisa, of Sulphur Springs, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 27, 2022, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Travis Manley and Earl Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow at Centerton Cemetery in Centerton, Arkansas. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Ashton Davis, Russell Thomas, Eddie Moore, Shane Trowbridge, Greg Thomas and Nick Thomas.
