Danny Crane

(From Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary)

Danny Douglas Crane, age 48, passed away at his home in the Carl Junction Residential Care Facility on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.

Born June 21, 1973, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Danny spent nearly the next 50 years becoming a part of the lives of many in the Joplin area. He was a graduate of the Joplin R-VIII School district and would later retire as an employee of the “Joplin Schools” after a lengthy career in maintenance. In retirement, he continued to enjoy active membership in the Joplin National Education Association.

A long-time parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Danny was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 14096, where he truly participated in and benefited from a brotherhood built on charity unity, and fraternity.
Danny was known and loved for his absolute zeal for life with robust interest in classic country music, Silver Dollar City, Branson, MO, Downstream Casino, the Ozark Trout Resort, and connection with those whom he loved. Perhaps his most profound legacy is the vast network of friends Danny gained during his lifetime. Whether via email, text, social media, call, or in person, Danny maintained relationships with his “friends;” a title he issued to others with trust, love, and mutual appreciation.

Danny was preceded in death by his loving parents, Doug and Mary Crane, in 2019.

Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services and the Rite of Committal will be concluded in June at Burkhart Cemetery in Racine, MO where the family plot is located. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army of Jasper and Newton Counties or the Knights of Columbus.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin.
