(From Parker Mortuary)Lois ‘Darlene’ McMillen, age 87, Carthage, Missouri, passed away at 7:12 a.m. Thursday, January 6, 2022 at her home.
Darlene was born September 28, 1934 in Galesburg, Illinois to the late James Walter Jones and Kate Muilenburg Jones.
Darlene had worked for Bellegg Farms; Butterball Turkey and Oxford Home Health Care, before finally retiring in 2013.
In her spare time, Darlene enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening and canning, tending to her flowers and taking trips to the local casino. Darlene cherished the time spent and memories created with her family and friends. Her family meant everything to her and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She married Luther Wayne McMillen on December 1, 1951. Together they shared 24 precious years together before his passing on August 4, 1976.
In addition to her parents and husband, Darlene was also preceded in death by a son, Craig A. McMillen; five brothers, Rich, Ken, Max, Don and Bill; two sisters, Lil and Barbara.
Survivors include her children, Christine ‘Chris’ McMillen, Dale McMillen, Dave McMillen and wife, Debbie, Greg McMillen; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; five great great grandchilderen; together with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Services are planned for Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary with Pastor David Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Todd Starkey, Chad McMillen, Aaron Eisiminger, Michael Booker, Mike Belk and Chris Rhodes. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the chapel.
