Tom Powers

Thomas Edward “Tom” Powers, age 94, of Neosho, Missouri, passed away at 5:54 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2022, at his home. He was born February 27, 1928, in Cedar County, Missouri, the son of the late James Younger and Georgia (Messick) Powers. On August 17, 1977, he married Catherine Gassow in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She survives him of the home.

Tom worked as a lineman for KAMO Electric for 21 years, retiring in1987. He enjoyed restoring old homes, woodworking, raising cattle, keeping his garden, and his morning coffee clutch; more than anything, Tom loved spending time with people.








In addition to his wife, Catherine, he is survived by five children; Shirley Ketcham of Seneca, Missouri, Sue (Jimmy) Hobson of Granby, Missouri, Phyllis (Norman) Barr of Joplin, Missouri, Steve (Joni) Powers of Webb City, Missouri, Diana Powers of Citrus Heights, California; four stepchildren, Lola (Dale) Bradley, Tom Judy, Dan (Susan) Judy and John Judy all of Neosho; fifteen grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, and special friends; Maurice and Rhonda Slayden.

His sister Isabell Powers, brother, Marvin Powers and aunt and uncle, who raised him from the age of eight, Earl and Dorothy Powers, preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 4, 2022, at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Neosho, with visitation from 12:00-1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Dr. Jerry Siegel will officiate. Burial will follow at New Salem Cemetery in Neosho. Serving as pallbearers, Jimmy Hobson, Steve Powers, Chandler Connell, Mike Connell, Jeff Connell, and Brandon Hobson. The honorary pallbearer will be Maurice Slayden. Memorial donations may be made in Tom’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
