Bill Moritz

William “Bill” L Moritz, age 94 of Joplin, MO, passed peacefully on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Webb City Health and Rehab Facility. Bill was born on September 10, 1928 in Elizabeth, NJ to the late Rudolph and Emma Collins Moritz. 

 After school, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1946-1948 on the USS Pine Island before being honorably discharged.

Bill married Judith “Judy” A. Payne on February 10, 1962 and together they had three children. 

 Most of his life, Bill worked in the construction business, eventually owning his own business, Ceilings and Walls, Inc. in the commercial construction industry. He retired to Grove, OK where he was an avid sailor and member of the Grand Lake Sail Club. Bill and Judy enjoyed traveling the world together during their retirement.

Judy preceded him in death on April 13, 2013.

Surviving Bill include a son, Brian Moritz and wife, Dana of Carl Junction; daughter Lisa Linn and Husband Todd of Sun City, AZ; brother Rudy Moritz and wife, Susan of North Carolina; sisters, Peggy Flynn of New Jersey and Candy Meloney and husband, Art of Florida. Seven grandchildren, Chase Moritz and wife, Meredith of Carl Junction; Nicholas Moritz and wife, Lauren of Smyrna, TN; Jacob Moritz of Carl Junction; Stephanie Moritz and fiancé, Brad Cox of Joplin; Cassie Kitts and husband, Cody of Joplin; Marcus Linn and wife, Taylor of Phoenix, AZ; and Julie Linn and significant other AJ Gregory of Phoenix, AZ; as well as ten great grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by a son, Michael Moritz and six sisters.

The family will hold a memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Parkinson’s Association in care of the mortuary.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
