Vivian Dumond

(From Ozark Funeral Home)

Vivian Florence DuMond, 86, of Pineville, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Freeman Hospital in Neosho, MO.

Vivian was born on January 23, 1937 in El Centro, CA to the late Laurence Dan Belcher and Helen (Estrada) Belcher.

She grew up in Southern California where she met and married her beloved late husband George Westley DuMond on November 20, 1954. They celebrated 60 full years of life together.

In her early married life, she was busy raising three children, was an active volunteer in Girl and Boy Scouts, worked at school functions and served as president of the local PTA. She enjoyed crafting with her sisters and spending time with family. Her love for camping trips ultimately led to one great family adventure when she and George packed up their home and children and moved to the heart of the Ozarks in Pineville, MO. She always said it was the best thing they ever did for their family.

Vivian traded PTA meetings for hayfields, creek days and fixing up an Ozark farmhouse. She earned her reputation for dreaming up projects for George. Vivian treasured her family and took great pride in her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchild. She and George traveled to school events, ballgames, colleges, new homes and welcomed every new baby into the family.

One of Vivian’s many talents was to whip up dinner for anyone who walked through her door. She and George also went on mission trips where she readily took over the kitchen to feed all who sat at the table. She enjoyed gardening and always loved being outdoors.

Vivian was above all, Mom. She was there for broken bones, surgeries, joys, heartaches and all of life and love. She was Grandma, Mimi and GG, synonymous with big hugs, birthday calls, treasure boxes, crafting, holiday gingerbread parties and oatmeal raisin cookies. Every grand dog was special and she was known for spoiling them all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Laurence and Helen; husband George; sisters Elsie Daniels and Kathryn Heflin; and brother Laurence. She is survived by sisters Gwendolyn Newara and husband Raymond, Dolores Shearer and husband Ronald; daughter Robin Adkison and late husband Jerry; son George Dumond II and wife Mimi; daughter Vivian Pendergrass and husband Craig. She left a legacy of 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. She was beloved by April Adkison and Ella; Amy Kinman, husband Eric and Eliza; Jake adkison and wife Candice and Tehya; Charlie Agro and wife Julie, Carsen and Rian; Westley DuMond and wife Fabiola, Annie and husband Noah and Ryker, Taylor and Emma; Dustin DuMond and wife Mary; Luke DuMond and wife Morgan; Chris Carlin and wife Paige, Cael and Kypten; John and wife Andrea, Mason and Piper; Tiffany Griffin and husband Cody, Amelie and Grant; McKenzie Pendergrass; along with a host of other family and friends who will dearly miss Vivian.
