Dodie Wofford

(From Simpson Funeral Home)

We celebrate the beautiful life of Dolores Arlene Wofford, lovingly known as Dodie, was born on October 29, 1928, in Hammond, Indiana. She passed away on March 7, 2024 in her Carl Junction home., surrounded by her family.

A loving mother, a witty friend, a funny companion and a reliable confidant, Dodie was a beacon of warmth and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was high-spirited, and a bit sassy at times. Her laughter was infectious, and her knack for solving word puzzles was nothing short of legendary.

Dodie was a woman of faith, a devout Christian and a member of the Wildwood Baptist Church of Joplin. Dodie loved life, she loved bowling, cross-stitching, and quilting. She enjoyed the thrill of the slot machines at the casino and found solace in the company of her children and grandchildren. Her family was her world, and her late husband, Ralph was the love of her life.

Dodie was a wonderful grandmother to 12, great-grandmother to 19, and great-great grandmother to 3. She will especially be missed by these 34 grandkids. She was truly the glue that held the family together. Dodie was always there, no matter the circumstances.

Dodie is survived by her sons Ralph 'Thom' Wofford (Lauren Parsons) and Tim (Myra) Wofford, daughters Jo Anne (Mark) Upton and Janet Austin. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ralph Wofford, an infant son John Wofford who died in childbirth, son-in-law Kenneth Austin, parents John and Betty Davies, and brothers David and Tommy Davies.

A visitation will be held at the Simpson Funeral Home in Carl Junction on Monday, March 11, 2024, at 10:30 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:30am with Joe Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Carl Junction Cemetery. Those honoring Dodie by serving as casket bearers are Jeremi Wofford, Anthony Wofford, Bryan Strausbaugh, Kristopher Strausbaugh, Austin Waring, and Lane Waring.

As we mourn the loss of our beloved Dodie, we also celebrate her vibrant life. We encourage everyone who knew Dodie to share their memories, stories, and photos on her memorial page. In these shared memories, her spirit will live on, touching our hearts and reminding us of the love and laughter she brought into our lives.
