Marilyn Meyer

Marilyn Rae Meyer, age 80, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Sarcoxie, Missouri, passed away at 3:54 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at The Madison Senior Living, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born April 10, 1944, in Bridgeport, Missouri, the daughter of Victor and Pauline (Ray) Schroer.

Marilyn was a 1962 graduate of Warrenton High School in Warrenton, Missouri. On October 6, 1963, she married Robert L. “Bob” Meyer, in St. Charles, Missouri. They were fortunate to be able to travel all over Europe with the United States Army, living in Germany, Alaska, and many U.S. States. 






In 1992, after moving from Dixon, Missouri, they eventually settled in a rural area outside of Sarcoxie, Missouri, where Marilyn had resided since 1997. As a member of the First United Methodist Church, now Family of Christ Church, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, Marilyn worked at the Step-by-Step Child Development Center at the Church where caring for the babies brought her much joy. Bob and Marilyn were members of the Optimist Club in Dixon. They also owned and operated the Friendly Corner Ice Cream Shop in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. Marilyn loved partnering with her daughter in the Pro-Life prayer ministry of 40 Days for Life.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Michelle Scott and her husband, Bill, of Overland Park, Kansas; her granddaughter, Katie Scott of Overland Park, Kansas; two brothers, Charles Schroer and his wife, Virginia, of Streamwood, Illinois and Elmer Schroer of Atlantic, Missouri; niece, Beverly Elflein, of Farmington, Missouri; nephew, Larry Elflein, of New Florence, Missouri and many other nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Pauline, her husband, Bob and her sister, Marjorie Elflein.








A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, with a funeral service to follow at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. The burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
