Betty Jones

(From Peterson Funeral Chapel)

Betty Suzanne (Schultz) Jones was born on March 17, 1926 and passed away peacefully January 15 in Aurora MO.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Donna Sue (Jones) Wood and husband Jody of Carthage MO and son Randy Jones of Aurora MO; granddaughters Stephanie (AtKisson) Severin and her husband Rod of Cedar Rapids Iowa; Darcy (Wood) Humphrey and her husband James of Carthage MO; Erin (Jones) Buehler and husband Damon of Aurora MO; Kyndra (Jones) Leverington and husband Alex of Springfield MO; grandsons Rick AtKisson and his wife Mia of San Jose CA; Jonathan Jones of Republic MO; Dillon Wood of Carthage MO; great grandchildren; Landon, Haydon, Shailynn, Krissy, Ella, Reese, Jamie and Aaron, and many nieces and nephews.

Betty and her husband John retired in Arizona and lived there for several decades until John’s death in 2007 and after a few more years in the desert, Betty returned to Aurora in 2017 to be near family again.

Betty was loved by too many to name, including every person at The Aurora Nursing Center, and a very special roommate Kathleen. Betty was the matriarch of the nursing home, proudly being their oldest resident. She was still sketching animals and birds just months ago which she loved to do so much. Even into her late 90s she was helping others learn how to sketch and paint. Her favorite time of day was during sunset which she often captured with a camera or phone. She loved current technology which provided that camera and then quickly posting her latest treasure on Facebook for her many friends to enjoy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Schultz and her mom Clara (Hale) Schultz; her husband John Jones, and a sister Evelyn Rippee. She now celebrates with them and many others who preceded her in Heaven.

No funeral service is planned. Her wish was to be cremated, and will be buried in Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora later this year after a private memorial service.

Arrangements are under the care of Peterson Funeral Chapel.
