Mimi Isgrigg

Barbara Joyce “Mimi” Isgrigg, age 88, Joplin, passed peacefully at her home with family at her side on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

Mimi was born January 19, 1936 in Joplin, daughter of the late Lee Maynard Gayler and Louie LaVenia (Gourley) Gayler. She grew up in Joplin and graduated from Joplin High School before receiving her bachelor’s degree in education from Missouri Southern State University in Joplin. She would also receive a master’s degree from Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University). She was a Reading Specialist for the Joplin R VIII School District for over 27 years before retiring in 2002. She also worked for a few years with the Webb City Schools.








She loved her students very much and helped many young people through difficult times over the years. She was known to everyone as Mimi and was loved by many. She enjoyed her family very much and especially enjoyed spending time watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren during their various activities. She will be missed by many.

In addition to her parents, Mimi was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie R. Isgrigg who passed away on January 1, 2011, a granddaughter, Lindsey “Morgan” Baker, her siblings, Vernon Gayler, Wanda Owen, Sharon Gogbill, Orissa Doyle, and Twyla Smith.

She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Isgrigg (Baker) of Bella Vista, AR, and Leslie Jones (Mike) of Neosho, MO; five grandchildren, Josh Jones (Carolyn), Austin Jones, McKenzie Taylor (Addison), Meredith Roderique (Scott), and Landon Baker (Skylar); 12 great-grandchildren, Braden Grider, Jaida Jones, Joe Taylor, Lauren Jones, Cal Taylor, Bobby Taylor, Greta Roderique, Everly Baker, Emersyn Baker, Mabel Roderique, Ellory Baker and Hank Roderique.








Funeral service will be Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 12:00 noon in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Phillip McClendon and Pastor Doug Lawson officiating.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until service time.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Bible Study Fellowship care of Parker Mortuary.
