(From Sisco Funeral Home)John Anthony Hulshof, Jr. of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, at the age of 65, ended his battle of Parkinson's disease on this earth on January 17, 2026. John was born in Little Rock, AR on November 9th, 1960. His family relocated to Independence, MO where he graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1979. He was proud that he had been an Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts.
He married Karen Williams on March 13th, 1982 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Independence, MO. He was married for 43 years of marriage to his wonderful wife Karen. They welcomed their first daughter Nicole Lynne on August 29th, 1982. On April 9th, 1989, Cassandra Hope was added to their family.
As a jack of all trades, he worked in several fields with construction being his main field. Whether he was remodeling, roofing, concrete or foundation repair, he could get their job done. He was most peaceful when around water with friends and family, fishing, throwing rocks, wrestling with the kids, and grilling food. He was light-hearted and known to have a smile on his face. He had a quirky sense of humor. He loved collecting rocks and arrowheads, and was good at being the life of the party. He was known to yell out Ozzy loudly during a party. He enjoyed bringing home his prized deer he killed to show off to his family. He loved having camping trips to Smithville Lake. He loved his best friends Bruce and Susan. At their Lake of the Ozarks lakehouse, Bruce and John founded the Good Enuf Gang. John enjoyed his Son-in-law's cooking after he passed the torch for him to do all the grilling. He had a love of breaking out the antique wheels and riding them around or down the hillside with his children. He had a fear of birds that began from childhood as a toddler after being chased by a rooster. Needless to say, he did not like birds and they did not like him.
Big Papa loved his grandchildren and the family gatherings. As an avid-fan, he enjoyed the gatherings for the Kansas City Chiefs. John loved going gambling with friends Dave and Rose. He didn’t know much of how to bet or play, but he was pretty lucky, and got excited when he’d win on a machine. He had a love for life, family, and friends. He was definitely a character.
John is preceded in death by John Hulshof, father; Walt Ridenhour, step-father; and Juna Ridenhour, mother; Chris Hulshof, nephew; Chad Hensley, nephew; several friends, and grandbaby there to welcome him home.
