Valerie Pyle

Valerie V. Pyle, age 82, Joplin, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at her home with family at her side.

Valerie was born November 19, 1936 in Tampa, Florida, daughter of the late Richard Hernandez and Mary Townsend Hernandez.

 She met Ted Pyle while serving in the United States Air Force, and they were wed, and followed his military career. She worked at Southwest Oklahoma University at the administrative assistant to the Dean of Students. While working there she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. She then worked for Sallisaw, Oklahoma, and Perry, Oklahoma School Districts as an English and Spanish Teacher before retiring in 2001. She moved to Joplin after retirement to be with her daughter. She was also a member of Forest Park Baptist Church in Joplin.

In addition to her parents, Valerie was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Pyle; a brother, Richard Hernandez, and a sister, Joan Hernandez.








Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Conrad and husband Bill of Joplin; sister, Sonya Stone of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, Trent Kissee and wife Casey of Sequoya, Oklahoma, Ashley Bower and husband Joe of Lindsborg, Kansas, and Trevor Conrad and wife Cayley of Joplin; great-grandchildren, Reata Kissee, Henry Kissee, and Zella Bower.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

No services are planned as per Valerie's wishes.
