Wyman E. Preston, 87 of Hallowell, KS, died March 2, 2020 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO.
He was born March 19, 1932 in the Hallowell area to Ted and Lora Haines Preston and had been a lifelong resident of the Hallowell, KS. He was a graduate of Columbus High School. Mr. Preston was a veteran of the US Army.
He married Janice Barton on August 19, 1951 at the Altamont Baptist Church. She preceded him in death on August 4, 1986. He married Sharon D. Aldrige on June 11, 1988 at the Presbyterian Church in Scammon, KS. She survives at the home in Hallowell.
Mr. Preston was a road grader operator for the Cherokee County Road Department for 33 years retiring in 1998 and was also a farmer. He attended the Scammon Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife Sharon of the home in Hallowell, one son Doug Preston of Hallowell, one stepson Mike Loyd of Joplin, MO, two daughters Connie Drenik of McCune, KS and Cheryl Gurnee of Hallowell, one step-daughter Deann Manning of Columbus, KS, 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Janice, a two sons Darrell Preston and Dan Preston, a step-son Billy Loyd, two sisters Ila Mae Froelich and Rosemary Hartman, two brothers Garry Preston and Dee Royce.
Graveside services will be 10 am Friday, March 6, 2020 at the McKee Cemetery in Cherokee County, Kansas with Rev. Duane Elmore, officiating. Military rites will be given at the graveside service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Columbus, KS. Friends may call any time after 2 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Brandt Loyd, Kyler Loyd, Keegan Loyd, Logan Loyd, Tim Preston, Anthony Preston, Michael Preston and Eric Preston. A memorial has been established in lieu of flowers to the Scammon Presbyterian Church or the Hallowell Friendship Church. Condolences may be left at our web site www.bathnaylor.com.
