Lois J. Mager, of Lockwood, MO entered her eternal home in heaven on June 7, 2020 at the age of 89 years.
She was born on December 18, 1930 in Sweet Springs, MO, the daughter of Irvin and Bertha (Domsch) Hoffman. Lois attended elementary and high school in Sweet Springs and studied Education at St. John’s College in Winfield, KS.
She taught Third Grade at Trinity Lutheran School in Jefferson City, MO and Kindergarten at a Lutheran elementary school in St. Louis and also worked as a part time church secretary there.
She married H. Marvin Mager on July 11, 1954 and then moved to Jefferson City, MO where they raised their family and attended Trinity Lutheran Church. After moving to a residence in Lockwood in 2000, she became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood.
Lois was a talented artist who enjoyed painting and was known for making handmade greeting cards that were cherished by those who received them for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and many other special occasions. She was also an avid quilter and helped the Immanuel Dorcas Circle make many quilts that were donated to many organizations. Lois and Marv were quite a construction team: Lois had the ideas and Marv would make them happen. They built a house from the ground up by themselves and renovated several houses to make what was old new again.
She is survived by four daughters, Jeanie Steele of Memphis, TN and the late Mark Steele, Kathy Pullen and husband Tim of Lenexa, KS, Lori Eggerman and husband Tim of Lockwood, MO, and Jana Mager of Raymore, MO; five grandchildren, Charissa Toeller (David) of Belgium, WI, Nick Steele of Memphis, TN, Joseph Eggerman (fiancee Dreama Weber), David Pullen (Kesandra) of Red Oak, IA, and Thomas Eggerman (Brooke); and four great-grandchildren. Lois is also survived by three sisters, Betty Redeker of Iowa City, IA, Margaret Lauth of St. Louis, MO, and Norma Karsten of Columbus, OH.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2020, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. A family graveside service and burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. No formal visitation will be held, but family and friends are welcome to pay their respects and view on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, please be mindful of maintaining a social distance, and the capacity and seating may be limited. Also, you are welcome to and, indeed, encouraged to wear face masks to protect yourselves and others.
