(From Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home)Maxine married Leonard Montgomery in 1946 and moved to Fairview, Missouri and spent her whole life on the family farm. When Leonard passed in 2018, she stayed on the farm still making her own decisions and living by herself, paying her own way and always aware of the count of cows she had, date of calves being born that season and when she wanted to sell. She also kept track of all the crops and hay available from the farm. She kept on baking pies and making her "special meatballs"!
Born on July 21st, 1924, she saw many events happen thru out her almost 101 years. Passing on May 10, 2025.
She was preceded in passing her father and mother, James and Zenver Huffmaster, in-laws, Oscar and Ethel Montgomery, daughter, Carol Diane (Montgomery) Metzger.
Surviving are one son, Glenn (Deborah), son-in-law, Ned Metzger, 3 Grandchildren, Justin Montgomery (Jennifer), Jason Montgomery and Victoria Kennedy, 3 Great Grandchildren, Caitlyn, Jacqueline, and Katherine (C.D.) Simkins. One sister, Dolores (Charley) Bertalot and one brother, Gale Huffmaster (Rose), along with nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services will be May 14, at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri with visitation at 1:00 pm and services at 2:00pm. Pallbearers: Justin Montgomery, Jason Montgomery, John Montgomery, Ralph McLaughlin, Larry Riffey and Charles Riffey. Honorary: Mike Cummings, and Kevin Huffmaster.
Burial will be at Dice Cemetery, Fairview, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dice Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri.
